Description

This is a unique tour in Ireland to the historical south east of the country!

Discover Kilkenny and its medieval streets, explore one of the oldest still operating lighthouses in the world and board the Dunbrody "Coffin" Ship.

First, stop for a couple of hours in the beautiful city of Kilkenny to discover its ancient medieval streets, enjoy the majesty of its castle and the impressive Saint Canice’s Cathedral with its peculiar circular tower and its tombs of knights and Norman ladies. You can also see the imposing Rothe House dating back from Tudor times and the only merchants' mansion that still exists in Ireland. Finally, you will also have time for lunch here.

Next stop on your route is the Hook Lighthouse, which is one of the oldest still operating in the world. According to legend, in the 13th century the monks from Dubhan monastery erected the first incendiary lighthouse to warn seafarers of dangerous rocks. The monks lived in the tower which also served as a monastery. Climb its tower to enjoy the wonderful views of the east coast and the unpredictable Atlantic. There is a good chance you may even spot whales, dolphins and seals!

Next, board the impressive ' Dunbrody Coffin Ship', an exact replica of an emigrant ship from the Great Irish Famine of 1845 before heading back to Dublin.
