For so many visitors to Dublin, the true city experience begins with a visit to Guinness Storehouse at the heart of global brand Guinness' stout empire.
Famously leased by founder Arthur Guinness for 9,000 years (at just £45 per year), the premises became the heart of an international brand with roots as deep in Dublin soil as many of the families who worked inside the famous gates. Over 250 years, the company bought up surrounding property, creating a brewery complex which covered more than 64 acres by 1914.
In 2000, Guinness relaunched its redesigned fermentation building as The Guinness Storehouse. From towering hops vines on the first floor, to interactive exhibits of the brand's many decades of marketing campaigns, this self-guided tour is an immersive experience dedicated to honoring "The Black Stuff".
Built in the Chicago style of architecture, the building's central atrium (designed to mimic the classic shape of a pint glass) serves as both the starting and end points for the tour. Visit the large and well-stocked Guinness Store, also on this level, last, as a leisurely stroll through the exhibit is best enjoyed with hands free of Guinness goodies. Enjoy mid-tour tastings, hands-on experiences as well as interactive exhibits on every floor.
Most memorable for any visitor is the tour's final stop in the GRAVITY® Bar, pairing a unique and breathtaking 360° panorama of the city with a complimentary pint of the famous stout (or soft drinks for those a little younger).
Booking in advance (for groups under 15) is not mandatory, although it is recommended, as the Storehouse offers 10% discounts on pre-booked tickets, pick up terminals and a faster admission process. Free parking is available in the neighboring Hopstore and local bus links are a within walking distance.
